A look into my UX/UI work on
Workey
Workey was a case study done into making a new type of workout app for professional athletes. It allowed both the athlete and their support system (like coaches) to view their exercise progress. My part in the creation of this app was as follows:
-
Defining and ideating
-
Wireframing
-
Mockups/Storyboards
-
Prototyping
Problem
The main problem we were trying to address with this application was the lack of workout systems built for athletes specifically. Where both a coach and the athlete could look at and track the athlete's progress.
Process
When designing this app, I wanted to go with a basic layout and theme. This was because the people using it would likely be in a hurry. They would be between workouts or quickly moving from one tab to the next. For this reason, a simple and easy to read layout would provide the best user experience.
Product
The final product was simple and easy to use while not looking overly sharp or rigid. This allows users to feel more comfortable using the app quickly, between breaks. Furthermore, the final product allows users to easily collaborate with each other, through setting goals, monitoring workouts, etc. Thus, solving the initial problem of lack of correspondence and collaboration.
Post Analysis
Having completed this project, there are some things I would change about it if given the ability to. The main one being the design of the application. Although I was going for a simplistic design and the created work fits that idea, I am not as pleased with the final layout as I originally was. If given the opportunity I would add more to the backgrounds of the screens as well as change the spacing of the material on the page. Through this process, however, I have learned about why specifically I would want to change what I did. I believe this knowledge will help me in the future to not repeat this.
